The arrival of the Windrush generation has helped build and shape the face of not only Islington but of the UK as a whole and we want to take this opportunity to recognise, celebrate and reflect on the tremendous contributions the Windrush generation and their descendants have made and continue to make to society.

This event will be hosted by Colin Adams MBE, Director of Brickworks Community Centre.
Our keynote speaker is broadcaster, oral historian and composer Alex Pascall, OBE.
Theophina Gabriel will be performing a poem inspired by the migration of people from the Caribbean to the UK.
MC Bushkin founder and front man of the Infamous group the Heartless Crew, will speak from a 3rd generation perspective. He will speak on his Windrush generation elders and how they have impacted his life today.
This event will give room to genuine and poignant discussions surrounding the strength and resilience of the Windrush generation and the brave decision they made to leave their homes and come and help rebuild Britain and what it took to pave the way for their descendants and those who have come after them.The arrival of the Windrush generation has helped build and shape the face of not only Islington but of the UK as a whole.
