POSTAL POETRY

All Change’s Well-Versed Company of Older people working with associate artist Francesca Beard have created a series of original poems to recognise and celebrate the wonderful work of those who care for us all - carers, health, social care and key workers.

In this 3rd iteration of our Postal Poetry cards collaboration with House of Illustration, Joanna Layla, Toya Walker, Grace Holliday and Grace Attlee will illustrate the poems. A set of greetings cards will be created and sent to health, social care and key workers across Islington. The cards will be published on Instagram for WORD2021.

CARERS

There are many carers.

Let’s remember them all.

Remember the family carers,

On duty all day and all night.

Remember many home carers are children,

Shouldering responsibilities much too soon.

Remember visiting carers, frustrated

By travelling times, so often racing

To reach their next client, while

Their hearts want more time where they are.

Remember the workers in care homes,

Often trying to make a shelter for people

Afraid or disturbed, and just

Wanting to be back in their homes.

Remember the friends, relations, supporters

Who rally round to care for the carers.

Let us recognise the problems, and

The importance of finding solutions.
