Waltham Forest Housing Action Trust

All Change was commissioned by the WFHAT to design and manage a 3-year arts development programme on four housing estates.

In what was then the largest refurbishment scheme of its kind in europe, homes for hundreds of people in 1960s tower block housing were demolished and replaced with new build low rise housing whilst all residents remained living on site during the 8-year redevelopment.  All Change’s projects on Oliver Close, Chingford Hall, Cathall Road and Boundary Road estates were designed to supplement the HAT’s extensive community development/tenant empowerment programme and helped residents come to terms with the major changes taking place in their lives.  Projects were all issue-based and targeted residents of all ages and backgrounds including children and young people, refugee women, young men, young women, families, and older people.  All Change’s work included a series of drama projects and performances, music and dance, visual arts and combined arts, photography projects, creative writing projects, festivals, fun days and events, traineeships in youth arts work and a cross-estates banner making project that created giant scale weather proof banners that adorned the empty housing blocks’ scaffolding prior to demolition.
