Going Places

Going Places is an ambitious programme of high quality arts and cultural experiences with older people in north London.

Artists and older people work together in community, day-centre and residential care settings, and we bring older people into arts and cultural venues to share their work, and to enjoy and experience the local arts and culture offer, making them and their work visible. Going Places is co-produced with older people and aims to find creative ways to engage and involve those who are most isolated. It is delivered in partnership with specialist local organisations working with older people – including day centres and care homes and with exceptional arts and cultural partners including – Cubitt, Sadler’s Wells, Candoco Dance Company, Central St. Martins and Arsenal Football Club.  The programme includes ongoing workshops and events at Alsen Day Centre and the Mildmays Extra Care centre, and events including Rub-A-Dub Caribbean Socials in partnership with Sadler’s Wells. A key strength of programme is that it offers a rich and flexible mix of approaches to engagement including: - individual artist’s residencies; group workshop programmes – in both arts and care settings; intergenerational projects; cultural visits to galleries, theatres and football matches; performances and exhibitions; and large scale social celebrations. Older people can engage one-to-one, in a small group or be part of events involving hundreds of people – whichever suits them best.  The programme works with artists from different disciplines including: - visual arts, poetry, performance, photography, dance, film, sound and music.
