COMMUNITY

Children and young people have engaged schools and the local community in the Climate Cafe through a series of community events and projects:

Cally Festival 3 July 2022 - young creatives ran recycled bunting making and a jubilee-themed photo booth where festival attendees of all ages made crowns and costumes from recycled materials and newspaper. Over 10,000 people attended this popular community event.

Autumn Poetry Celebration 27 October 2022 - children, young creatives and poet Kenny Baraka performed original climate-themed poetry for an audience of local families.

Climate Cafe School Assemblies - the young creatives led interactive climate-themed assemblies in local primary schools.

Climate Cafe bag and Winter Food Parcels - a special Climate Cafe tote bag featuring artwork from the project has been created and is being used to provide hundreds of local families with food parcels this winter. The parcels will be packed by local volunteers and distributed through Islington’s adventure playgrounds run by Islington Play Association and Awesome!. Families will be able to keep the bags to use as a envionmently-friendly alternative to plastic carriers for shopping trips.
