Libraries Week

Our Autumn edition coincides with national #LibrariesWeek 4-10 October 2021. This is an annual showcase and celebration of the best that libraries have to offer. Each year has a theme which explores the innovative and surprising things that libraries are doing to support their communities. Libraries Week celebrates the nation’s much-loved libraries and the central role that libraries play in their community as a driver for inclusion, sustainability, social mobility and community cohesion, how libraries are taking action and changing lives!

Islington Libraries are a founding partner of Islington WORD festival, which emerged from Islington Council’s #IslingtonReads strategy in 2021. Since then our libraries have been at the heart of the festival hosting live performances, book launches, storytimes with Drag Queens, exhibitions and much more!
