Young Parents win Film Award

In February 2006, ‘Babes’ a 10 minute short film by Islington Young Parents Project created as part of All Change’s Reel Deals 2 project, won the First Light Film Award for Best Documentary 2006.

The award was presented to the young women at a special ceremony at Odeon West End, by Kevin MacDonald award winning Director of Touching the Void.

Babes is a collection of episodes in the life of young parents, expressing obstacles they face, changes in their lives, hopes and fears and the joy their children bring. The film mixes vibrant urban imagery, a strong lyrical soundtrack and poetic poignant voices which challenge the establishment view of young parents.
