Witness Statement - Billie

Billie had been developing her creative writing skills with the help of professional writers Paul Lyalls and Judith Bryan. She wrote a piece about Tupac Shakur and a poem about how she would like to change the world. The next week Billie read the poems to the rest of the group as some of them had missed the previous week. She described how she had improved the work with the help of the writers and also how she had thought about how she would feel if she met her arts hero, Tupac. She led a discussion with the group about the poems and used the feedback to improve her writing. I was impressed by Billie’s skills and confidence in reading her work and leading the discussion and her willingness to take on board feedback from professionals and her peers.

Billie has since developed her presentation skills in her role as Visual Merchandiser at Marks and Spencer on Holloway Road. Billie made a dress entirely from carrier bags and displayed it on a mannequin. She presented this to her colleagues in the canteen, explaining how she had designed and created the dress.
