On october 24th-26th I did the lyrical course at the National Portrait Gallery. For this we had to get our inspiration from the Devotional Exhibition.

We had a look round with Rachel who was running the project and told us about the backgrounds of some of the people in it. After we all had a talk about what we liked best and which our favourite images were.

The Devotional Exhibition was ok. It was black female british singers, or artists I should say. It was all photos and text. There was about 20 pictures and about 100 names written over the wall. It was funny.

The names had bubbles round them. My favourite image was Neneh Cherry. She was pregnant at the time. Back in those days the record company weren’t keen to have her appear pregnant but she did anyway and I kind of liked that.

I would recommend it to others if you’re into that sort of art. It’s different art.

They gave the exhibition the smallest room in the gallery which wasn’t good.
